Live Preview in Colour Picker Suddenly Stopped Working

This is driving me a bit bonkers. I hope someone can help me. After a recent update for Illustrator, when you select a shape and go to Colour Picker, it now gives you a live preview of the colour you select. The selected shape changes colour in real time while your moving the cursor around in the colour picker window.

This was an amazing update but it suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago and I can't understand why. I tried contacting Adobe support but they were of no help at all. Some guy was remotely controlling my computer and it looked as if he was using Illustrator for the first time ever. After he clicked around on things that have nothing to do with the colour picker, he just said that feature doesn't exist! I told him that I've been using it but he didn't have any idea about it.

Has anyine else had this same issue?

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

That does not work in the current version (27.5). It works in the Color Panel with the sliders and in the color ramp.

There was a version that briefly had it: Preview color and opacity in real-time

Yes, it's the 'Preview colour and opacity in real time' is what I'm referring to. 

I've literally been using it for months up until a few days ago.

When you say ‘briefly had it’, does that mean it’s not coming back? Why would they take it out?! It was a great feature.

It will probably come back, I believe there were some problems that had to be fixed.

This feature was so incredibly important to me, I'm thinking about jumping to Affinity Designer until it's added back in...

Just use the color panel for adjusting the colors. There you still have live preview.

Yeah, I've just never been a fan of the color panel. Something about it all together in one box makes it harder for me. All good though, affinity will be fine for this project.

Sorry for the delayed response. The product team has currently disabled the option for Live Preview as it was causing issues. In the meantime, please upvote the UserVoice Ton has shared to get updates on this. Kindly stay tuned for a fix in a future release.
