Pink Screen Glitch in Illustrator 29.6.1 on macOS Monterey

New Here ,
Jul 21, 2025 Jul 21, 2025

Operating system: macOS Monterey; 12.7.6. (2015)

Hardware: iMac Retina 27in 2015. 24gb

Illustrator: 29.6.1 (latest update)

When composing artwork in Illustrator the screen regularly glitches with pink overlays. It's becoming more frequent now and making working in this environment distracting and difficult.

I've reset Illustrator back to its factory setting but the problem persists.

I have to zoom out and back in to clear the screen of pink screen but as soon as I add text or import a image the pink screen reappears.

Have you also tried to change your GPU performance settings to see if it makes any difference? https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/gpu-performance-preview-improvements.html?x-product=Helpx%2F1...

Your hardware still is compliant with Illustrator’s system requirements. I will try to get someone from the Illustrator team involved.

This is an old issue that has been reported a couple of times since 2021 at least. I do not know if there are solutions:

Hi @Monika Gause the iMac Retina from 2015 still runs on Intel architecture. Difficult to say if the age of the machine contributes to the problem.

This is kind of widespread, it has even been reported for Windows.

If you search for it there are probably more reports.

Hi @jimt78813284,

Thanks so much for flagging this, and I'm really sorry you're still running into the pink screen issue even after resetting Illustrator.

Since you've already tried toggling GPU Performance settings and the issue persists, I'd like to check with the team on this. Before that, could you let me know if the pink glitch shows up with all files or just specific ones? Also, if possible, please share a short screen recording showing the glitch in action. That would help us understand the behavior better.

In the meantime, try switching the View > Preview on CPU (instead of GPU) and check if that reduces the issue temporarily. Also, if you happen to use any external monitors or adapters, try disconnecting them to see if that makes a difference.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek
