Obrigado!
Hello everyone,
In the latest release of Illustrator 29.6.1, there is now an option in Preferences > General to uncheck "Show 'Print Bleed' generative Al button on Bleed." Kindly update to the latest version of Illustrator (https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/creative-cloud-updates.html) (if it has not already been updated) and let us know if it helps.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Go to Preferences → General, then look in General for an option like “Show 'Print Bleed' generative AI button on Bleed”.

Hi rickself,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and screenshots. We understand how disruptive the red 'Bleed for Print' icon can be, especially when working with precise visuals and color-sensitive compositions.
We've shared this with the product team and can confirm that a bug has been logged for this issue and is currently being worked on.
We are tracking this issue on the parent thread: https://adobe.ly/4l99cj8. Please stay tuned for more updates.
Note: I am also merging this post with the parent thread for tracking purposes.
Thanks,
Harshika

Can anyone tell me what this this message, that's suddenly started appearing in Illustrator, is all about. Am I going to get charged for everytime I add a bleed to an Illustrator document/artboard.
Like everything from Adobe these days, it's very unclear.
Illustrator is the last Adobe product left on my Mac, but it very much looks like I'll be ditching that for Affinity Designer in the not too distant future.

Bleed can be generated with AI. It only costs credits if you use that.

Hi @Mr Gawrjuhs,
Thanks for reaching out, and I completely understand the concern. Just to clarify, using Illustrator's regular bleed settings remains entirely free. The message you're seeing only appears if you choose to use the Generative AI-powered bleed feature, which leverages Adobe Firefly to generate a bleed area automatically. This option does use 1 credit per generation, as Monika mentioned. Manually setting a bleed in Document Setup or through the artboard settings won't cost you any credits.
If you're looking to remove or hide that AI bleed option, you can refer to the helpful discussion thread here:
https://adobe.ly/3T4mvF9
Let me know if you're still seeing the message even when not using the AI option, or if anything else feels off. Happy to assist further.
Looking forward to your update.
Abhishek

This message appeared when I created a brand new Illustrator document for print. No Generative AI features were used. So that's already an untruth that you've told me.
Thanks for the link in how to turn off the Generative AI features. By the looks of things I've got to wade through a fairly long thread to find the answere.
You would have thought that a simple option in Illustrator's Preferences would have been smart. But clearly Adobe Software Engineers aren't concerned with ease of use for customers these days.

This is meant to automatically create bleed for artwork that does not have bleed.
You can do it yourself, manually, the traditional way or use this option and spend a credit.

Thanks for the clarification. Jeez! Automated hand-holding. That's something that I can definitely live without, especially from Adobe.

It's not automated hand holding. It's creating the necessary additional artwork based on existing artwork. It continues the art.

Of course its automated hand-holding. If you're an informed designer then you know that a bleed needs to be added to a document that's going to be commercially printed. The designer then has full control on what appears in the bleed, rather than letting an AI algorithm generate something random.

Until you get poorly made artwork that doesn't have any bleed. And probably you should ask people who work in prepress houses and have to deal with whatever comes through the door.

Having worked in the design, prepress and printing industries for 40 years I know all about bad artwork. So please don't tell me what I should and shouldn't asking people. I spent a considerable amount of time recently fixing artwork for a client that had been created by someone using Adobe Fresco. I discovered that app doesn't create sufficient bleed. So as well as being poorly educated, people are being supplied with digital tools by Adobe that don't adhere to industry standards. Perhaps that's why they suddenly felt a need for Adobe Illustrator to generate bleed using artifical intelligence.

To me the bigger issue is the messaging.
The message should appear when clicking to generate a bleed, not on a document that has a bleed.
The way the message currently presents itself, it reads as if: "I added a bleed, and now it's taking a credit from me!?"
Seeing as how this is AI related, this issue has a 87% chance of being fixed.

After the latest update I have now a quite annoying permanently displayed "suggestion" under list of artboards saying "Select an artboard with graphics and try Generative Expand to extend the artboard". There is no "X" on it or other way to remove it and even the "i" more info button doesn´t work (doesn´t open anything when clicked)... I´m attaching a screenshot.
I have a lot of artboards that I usually work with, so I need as much space as I can get to organize them, so this useless "tip" is very disruptive for my workflow.
I´d appreciate any help!

Possibly I'm wrong, but as far as I can see you cannot hide it currently.
I'd also say it's a distracting advertisement and I don't think it's a good idea to permanently display it in the Artboards panel.

i am having the same issue and it is so frustrating. In the meantime I moved my artboards panel to its own island and expanded it so I can see all 50 of my artboards. @Adobe you need to fix this immediately. I even tried the generative artboard fill to get rid of it, and it just messed up my file. So yay!

Tried this and does nothing to solve the issue I´ve described above, the annoying ad window stays coverling artboard lists.
I also do not understand why would someone merge my initial separate discussion thread with this one as it is about two different problems.

Hi, this relates to nothing about the problem that @Elena_BCN and I have been describing. To prove to you, attached is a screenshot of be taking your suggestion and the panel still covering the artboard.
Please seperate out this conversation from what you merged it to, and address the issue stated. Thank you

I do agree with Allison. Merging the complaint about the advertisement in the Artboards panel into the actual thread about the bleed icon issue was not a good idea.
It is confusing and misleading and my answer that was appropriate in the original thread now looks clumsy and probably wrong, although it is not.

Hi @Elena_BCN & @Allison33011001a82i,
Thank you so much for sharing the details and the screenshot. It really helps to understand the situation clearly. At the moment, there isn't a way to hide or remove the 'Generative Expand' suggestion in the Artboards panel. I completely understand how disruptive this can feel, especially when working with many artboards and needing that space.
I know this functionality is important to you, and I'm sorry it isn't available right now. If possible, could you create a feature request on UserVoice (https://adobe.ly/40xg2Xa) and add your comments there? This helps us prioritize the request, and you'll also get notified about any updates.
Once you've submitted it, please feel free to share the link here so others who feel the same way can upvote it.
If you have any more questions or need further help, just let me know. We're always here for you.
Abhishek
