VCruntime140_1.dll error while launching Illustrator 2020 on Windows 7

Yesterday everything was fine. Today I get a message that says "the program can't start because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. How do I reinstall Illustrator or how do add the dll file?

I just updated my illustrator and when I try to open I get this System Error:

I have reinstalled twice but still no luck.

Anyone have any solutions?

According to this thread, some folks seemed to have luck going back to version 24.1.

I don't know if I have an option to go back.

I am at the mercy of this Creative Cloud subscription.

Hi, I know this has been brought up before, but I have tried all the advice given in these old posts and I am not getting anywhere.

I am a new subscriber to the entire Creative Cloud Suite and the only application that is not working after I have installed Creative Cloud is Adobe Illustrator - the one application I need quite urgently.

I get the nasty dialogue box that tells me that "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, following the detailed instructions for previous posts on this issue and the only difference is that when I try to install the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015, I have trouble installing it because it keeps telling me it cannot find the 2015 file to replace it.

Please help, as Illustrator is one application I do need right now...

イラストレーターを立ち上げようとすると、コンピューターにVCRUNTIME140_1.dllがないため、プログラムを開始できません。この問題を解決するには、プログラムを再インストールしてみてください。とシステムエラーがでます。

何度か再インストールしてみましたが、改善はされませんでした。

改善方法を詳しく教えて頂けますと幸いです。

Visual C++Redistribute Runtimeのインストールがなされていない場合に出てくる現象です。

下記ページより、Visual Studio 2015、2017 および 2019のx64パッケージをインストールしてみてください。

なおGet StartedからIllustrator Communityへ移動しました。

Sorry to hear about your experience. Please follow the steps below to fix this problem:

Open the Microsoft link - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads
Download these 2 files “x64: vc_redist.x64.exe” & “x86: vc_redist.x86.exe” for "Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019"
Execute the files one by one
Restart the computer once the patch is installed.
Launch Illustator and it should work fine.

I have the photography CC option and none of my CC programs would launch, giving me the same answer. My laptop is only a few months old and I tried this and it WORKED. Thank you.

I had the same issue. Apparently Illustrator (and many other programs) use C++, and need the most current version installed. The problem was fixed by installing the latest version from Windows.

Evening all!

I’m wanting to design a logo for my niece so downloaded a trial of illustrator after failed attempts in photoshop. For the past 4 hours I’ve been getting an error of ‘this program can’t start because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll is missing from your computer.’

Noe I’ve tried most things people recommend and I still can’t get it to work. Reinstalling the app, repairing MSVC2017 and reinstalling MSVC++2015.

Any ideas? I’d love to have a play around!

Having the same issue with Illustrator. Only happening in Illustrator version 24.1.1. After an hour of hitting the same wall, I just went back to 24.1 and everything is working well.

I've just logged onto my desktop to read the forums and have seen theres a few. I'm guessing I won't be able to do anything with the trail version then?

I installed 2020 new version of PS AI & ID , when I start the Illustrator I get error message saying that "VCRUNTIME140.dll" is missing and that i should try reinstalling. Have already tried a couple of times but no success - any suggestions? eyal
