2-up page view with space between pages, like artboards in Illustrator

I would like to have a 2 up (or more) page view in InDesign with space between pages, like artboards might look in Illustrator. I am NOT looking for how to set up facing pages or connecting multiple pages. I know how to set that stuff up.

I want it to look similar to this screenshot from InDesign in preview mode. The pages are not connected but are laid out next to each other. Does anyone know how to get this setup in InDesign?

Hi Alicia,

I guess the background image is just one object for both pages.

Use one rectangle on each page.

Move both pages away from each other using the Page Tool.

Uwe

Can you show the details of steps on how to move pages away from each other?

Just turn off all pages to shuffle and you should be able to pull them apart.

Hi aliciac47539383:

I remember seeing an artboard-like layout in an InDesign presentation on some other topic at Adobe MAX a few years ago. I ran out and googled it. Pretty cool.

This is the page setup in 'normal' view instead of 'preview'. You can see the pages have some separation between them.

Just create a custom page that's large enough to include your two documents side-by-side.
