about Raise Image Resolution Directly in InDesign

Hi Professionals ..

i read this article in InDesign Secrets.com by David Blatner

and i write a Comments but it seems no one notic (its too old 2009!). but here is my comment i wrote..

I have about 190 page placed from Word in In-design and about 630 image (all are ScreenShot – Screen Captures) at Maximum of 96 ppi Resolution and all the images are Anchored objects (it cannot be separated in alone layers) to do that it will take a long time! (even with Un-Anchored Script) i will take a lot of time to modifiy the text and the text wrap of each image, so i decided to give it a try as explained here!, and i succeeded !, i make only one layer (named “Resolution”) and place the white background on the A-Master Page and set the Transparency into Multiply (As Expalined) and test the Output PDF into Acrobat Pro (PDF is PressQuality with PDF-X/1a:2001) and everything is OK, the text retain text and nothing outlined and all the images is 300ppi as i test it in Preflight in print production in Acrobat, My question is ? is it alright and can i give the PDF file to My Printer? (Offset Print Production) to make the Book? or I miss something ?

So did i miss something or everything is alright

    The idea that upsampling (pixels added via an algorithm and not captured by a camera or scanner) will have a positive affect on quality is dubious at best. In the case of screen captures it is never a good idea because the GUI is drawn to a pixel grid, and all an upsample will do is blur the edges:

    Here the original on the left, and upsampled from 72ppi to 300ppi on the right. All the upsample does is blur the aliased edges—it doesn’t add any meaningful image detail.

    Also, the Actual resolution of the captures isn't necessarily the output resolution. Check their Effective Resolution, which is listed in the Link Info panel. Any reduction in scale increases the Effective output resolution—a 96ppi capture reduced by 50% has an output res of 192 ppi.

    To change the image display quality, choose Edit→Preferences→Display Performance (Windows) or InDesign→Preferences→Display Performance (Mac). You can then select one of the following settings from the Default View drop-down list: Fast: To optimize performance, the entire image or graphic is grayed out.

    Thank you very much. I know about effective resolution.. but i was wonder ? What if in some situations i am afraid i will not be able to reduce some captures to 50%. Any way thank you a lot.
