Applying a style issues

Hello. I have a problem with InDesign. By importing a Word text (docx) and then applying a style, some problems arise: part of the text does not acquire the right font and the text is not adequately formatted (for example, the hyphenation indications are not applied). How is this possible? What should I do? Thank you!

How are you applying style - and which style - Character or Paragraph?

Most likely - there are some "local overrides" in the text.

Thank you with all my heart! You made my day.
The problem was exactly what you identified and the solution works.
Is there any way to "prevent" the problem or is it impossible?
Thanks!

You're welcome.

With WORD documents - unlikely. It all depends on the experience of the author.

If you've WORD installed - you could use a macro I've co-crated for WORD:

https://ID-Tasker.com/uploads/WordStyle.zip

You would've to run it in WORD on the received document BEFORE importing this document to InDesign.

It "replaces" all Bolds, Italics, Underlines, Sub/Super-scripts and their combinations - applies CharStyles.

Then, after importing this processed WORD document into InDesign - you COULD select whole text and Clear Overrides.

You Could - but first you've to check if there aren't any other extra formattings applied - like colors - as the name suggests - it will clear EVERYTHING that's not defined in the applied Char/ParaStyles.
