Is there a setting that allows to automatically update the modified links, in order to avoid the repeated and repetitive actions of: go to the panel, go to the tab, select the file and press synchronize?
I work in a file that contains many Illustrator links, which I must frequently adapt as the text is modified, then, I go to one and return to another, I go to one and return to another... I guess I can't avoid that, but having to manually update each link each time it is modified... it is cumbersome, inefficient and ineffective, so it would be very helpful for my work to know how to update the links automatically.
I tried to find this configuration in the panel options, in the linked file menu, and in Preferences > File Management > Links, but I did not find it or could not identify it; what I did find in this last location, with a similar function for the sources, was: Auto-activate Abode sources, I would have imagined that in Links, there was: Update links automatically.
Can you please guide me?
Thank you.
I mean, if the program already detected that there is a mismatch between the versions of the linked files, why not update them automatically?
For me t his would not be good - I'd like to know if a file has changed and look at it when it's updating - who knows what changed, maybe it shifts position and is cropped in the box, or resized.
The reason it's there is to give the option of reviewing the update or accpeting all updates.

Hi @e ch n ,
Thank you for reaching out! Have you tried selecting all the links in the Links Panel and clicking the Update Link option? Does that resolve the issue for you? Let us know!

Hello Srishti.
Thanks for your reply.
Well... That's what I'm trying to get around, having to go to the panel, the links tab, select the files and request the synchronization...
Doing it that way certainly works, I have been doing it that way all this time, but it is extremely repetitive, tiring, ineffective and inefficient... I mean, if the program already detected that there is a mismatch between the versions of the linked files, why not update them automatically?
If this were not the default setting, providing the option to enable this setting automatically would be a great help to the workflow.
I hope I have explained it more clearly this time.
Thank you. @Srishti Bali

If I understand your question correctly, then there's no such option right now. That is, there's no option to update each individual link automatically once it's modified.
However, you can Option-click this button to update all modified links:
I think it's still better than chasing each particular link (or selecting them all in the panel).

I understand.
Is there a specific and appropriate way to suggest this feature for InDesign?

Option Maybe
It might be possible to trigger the refresh of the Link when performing an action - like Saving the file.
Instead of going to the Links panel you could hit CMD S and it would refresh the links.
But a script might be more trouble than it's worth.

Option you can do right now
You could assign a Keyboard Shortcut to update all the links
This way - you could pick a time to do this when it suits you - and hit OPT R which is a good fit for me as it's not assigned and I can use both hands to quickly run the shortcut

Interesting... I will take the time to properly follow up on your response, and I will let you know what happened.
Thank you very much @Eugene Tyson
