Automation of bar codes

Hey everyone!

 

I need to generate bar codes (EAN-128) from an Excel sheet with 8.000 records in it.

Can you recommend me a method that automates this process?

I can recommend Softmatic BarcodePlus. They have a plugin and a stand-alone software.


Can it generate several barcodes at once, or do I have to enter each barcode separately?

I googled it, and if I'm correct only the Softmatic BarcodeFactory can generate in bulk. Am I correct?

There are plugins but they'll still generate images or vector graphics that will need to be linked - or you can somehow generate those files with 3rd party solutions - then use DataMerge. 

 

Some time ago I've created tool for generating EAN13 / ISBN as a group of filled & empty rectangles in the InDesign - I could do EAN128 - but it would be PC only.

      Hi,

      Do you use data merge to create the InDesign document? Merge data to create form letters, envelopes, or mailing labels in Adobe InDesign or just import the excel source as a table.

      You can use a font to display the 'number' entered in Excel as a barcode in InDesign Libre Barcode 128 - Google Fonts (could not find the Adobe font equivalent)

      You forgot to mention that you can't just use this font and apply to the code - it needs to be converted to include start, stop and checksum.
