Hi everyone,
I have some graphics in my book layout. However, whenever I view it as a PDF in Acrobat, the letter "I" seems to appear bold. This is not the case in InDesign or the AI file. When I zoom in on it in Acrobat, it disappears. Why is this happening, and will it print like that?

@Robert at ID-Tasker @Peter Spier So if its a modern printer, the only potential change that can happen is that it appears slightly bolder?

Not at all - it's just a screen preview problem.
On the screen - you've much less pixels to display your image - so, if there is a rounding "problem" - there might be an extra pixel marked to be black.
When things are printed - there are way more points / dots per the same area.
In layman terms 😉

@Robert at ID-Tasker @Peter Spier So to wrap this conversation up, if I leave all my graphics as they are (outlined), it will most likely not cause any major issues? I don’t think we have the time to adjust everything.
Sorry for all the back and forth. I just want to be certain that everything is set up correctly.

99.9999% nothing bad should happen - because there is no text involved - just "some" vector shapes.
100% - if you ask for a sample print / proof - and check it carefully.

@Robert at ID-Tasker What do you mean by "there is no text involved"?

You've converted it to outlines - ergo there is no text.

I'm going to disagree with @Robert at ID-Tasker here. Outlined text will appear slightly bolder in print than text that is not outlined, but you would only really notice this difference on a page where outlined and non-oulined text are mixed, as can happen at times with transaparency flattening. For your graphics this will not be a problem, but next time remember that it is sufficient to embed the fonts when saving from Illustrator.

You're right.
I saw somewhere recently - either a thread here or maybe article on LinkedIn - about what happens with stroke when outlining.

@Robert at ID-Tasker @Peter Spier Why is it a problem if I embedded my fonts for the graphics In illustrator. Can this cause any issue that I could still fix? What would you suggest I do?
By @Mateomono
In general, outlined text appears bolder than "live" text because it loses its hinting. For your graphic labels I don't think this is going to be a problem.

The page prints fine here.

It looks perfectly fine on my phone.

It also looks like they're rasterized - not vectors?

@Robert at ID-Tasker They are all vectors.

This tells me it's a display issue...

If it prints OK - then yes - no need to worry about.

@Mateomono just to check, how does it look if you print a page on your own printer?

Just to confirm, after I printed the page I zoomed out in Acrobat and toggled the enhanced thin lines settings and was able to make the bold effect appear and disappear.
