Can I select all the text that has the same formatting in InDesign?

Hi there!

I'm a complete newb when it comes to InDesign, so I'm sorry if this comes across as a stupid question

I wrote and formatted a document in Word and then sent it to InDesign, where I wanted to make the pages look better and improve upon the formatting.

The problem I have is with the headers I've created in Word (they are written in an 18px uppercase Montserrat), which I want to define as a specific paragraph style so I can further edit them in bulk. However, these headers have the same paragraph style as the body text but simply override it.

Is there any way I could select ALL the 18px Montserrat Bold text inside the document, in order to define a new paragraph style, so I could bulk edit this header font, given that the body text is written in a 12px Montserrat? Worst case scenario, I'll proceed to doing it by hand - but it seems that this nugget should be hidden somewhere in the software

Thank you very much!

Nope, you can't to Select All Similar, like in Illy. Actually, you can't select any objects from different spreads in InDesign, simultaneously.

But yes, there is a *hidden nugget*, and its name is Find/Change panel (Edit > Find/Change). It's a quite complex and very powerful tool. Needless to say, it easily can help you to find all text of specific formatting, and apply a given para style to it. All in one go.

For future reference, if you used Word styles, you could import the text and match up to your InDesign styles/

Well, it wasn't a step-by-step instruction, however, I see you did your homework successfully. Cheers!

Well, you did open the road up and it was everything I could ask for may I disturb you with one more question?
