Can't override size when setting up a new document in Indesign

I haven't encountered this before... i'm trying to setup a new document 500 x 800cm.

I can enter 500cm (width) no problems) but when I try and adjust height to 800cm it reverts back to 548.64cm. What do I need to adjust to ensure I can customise both width and height to correct size?

Many thanks in advance

Hi @Olivia231617984be8:

InDesign's maximum page size is 216" x 216" (or 548.64 cm x 548.64 cm). It's adjusting the 800 cm to the largest number it can accept.

Hi Olivia,

I'd do that document in a scale like 1:10 so that you only need a page 500 x 800 mm.

Even if InDesign would support the 800 cm you would be perhaps in trouble to export this size to PDF.

Depending on the version of PDF you want to export, 800 cm would not be supported.

If I recall that right: In PDF Versions 1.3 (Acrobat 4.0) and earlier versions the maximum PDF page size was defined as 45"x45" only. That was changed to a maximum of 200" x 200" with PDF Version 1.4, I think.

Later PDF Version 1.6 lifted that to a theoretically maximum of 15,000,000" x 15,000,000", but I doubt there is a real-world application around that supports this size.
