Question

Can't type numbers into the control panel

Hello,

Since upgrading to InDesign Version 18.1 on an M1 Max Mac Studio I am unable to type in the control panel dock at the top. For example, if I want to change the point size of a typeface I can no longer type a number here. I have to use the separate floating Character panel. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, Joe

When interface problems like this occur, they can often be solved by restoring the InDesign preferences and caches. Here are directions how to do that:

I have seemingly fixed it (for now). I helped shift+option+cmd whilst launching InDesign.

I spoke to soon – it's reverted back to not working.

I've just tried this solution: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/control-panel-typing-problem/m-p/8697694#M29968 which, for the time being, seems to work.
