Can you create an Index Topic that is filtered by Paragraph or Character Style

Hi, I have several key words to add to an index. These key words appear on every single page of the document. That's an unavoidable issue. However, can I filter in some way so that the H3 headers with these key words are the only instances to appear in the Index?

It's still not really clear what your section headings H3 and H4 are and what you want to do with them, but I think what you're after is this:

1. If a key word is in a section heading (H1, H2, H3, . . .) then use the to-next-use-of-style page-reference type.

2. Otherwise use current page.

Is that correct?

Ok, I think my best course of action is also fairly tedious—create entries with these key words defined as limited to the "current page".

So, for example a color style that is identified as being "Lead-bearing" in H3 Paragraph Style appears in the Index, and the "lead-bearing" that is referenced in the Body Paragraph Style of a "Sulfur-bearing" color style does not.

Not sure I understand what you mean here. If you're looking for an answer, could you explain some more?

Hi Peter,

Here are a couple of examples. I want to put in the book Index, instances which are a defining characteristic as seen in an h4 style. I do not want to include instances of the word that are in body.

This script:

takes a word list and adds index markers at the occurrences of those words. The script uses several filters, one of which is paragraph style.

Hi,

So, I misspoke. I should have said "Reference" instead of "Topic" in regards to the Index element. Of course, if that is a better solution....
