Change the language in all paragraph tags

Does anyone have a script or something that will change the language in all paragraph tags at once?

I don't write scripts. If you have a script could you please explain how to use it.

I am converting 17 manual, 17 different languages in an English InDesign template.

If you are using Paragraph styles, you can edit the styles to make the change.

Otherwise, you can use Find/Change with nothing in the text fields

Find Format - (find the version of english that is being used)

Change Format - (Choose the language you want to change to)

Change All

Unzip this archive and copy the javascript into your scripts folder. It should show in your Scripts panel, double-click to run.

This works great but I'd like a version which just chages to a pecific language, so that I can create a shortcut and quickly apply it.
I would like to be able to change it to hit all open documents too if anyone has advice.

Hi Kathy,

since language is a character property also check the available character styles.

And of course overrides.

FWIW: Sometimes it's best to have a character style in place for e.g. US English, even if the document is typeset with a different language. You will use this character style on e.g. a quote in English.
