Select that Semibold in the Find/Replace Fonts list - as I wrote above.

You should see its file path in the bottom font info display of the dialog.

As @Mike Witherell wrote, these files can exist in different locations of the file system, and still contribute to the same font family. While it is generally preferrable to have all related files of a font family in one place, that required Myriad Pro is a special case.

Hello echn,

Fonts might come from:

Adobe Fonts

A "Document fonts" folder under the InDesign file

The Fonts folder within the individual application

A font management software

Having more than one of these at the same time can easily confuse InDesign or Illustrator.

So, what you might try, is hunting down all the places this font might be installed. Remove all except one place. Restart your computer. Maybe the problem will clear up.

Gracias @Mike Witherell @Robert at ID-Tasker

Me pregunto:

In case of InDesign - the order where InDesign is looking for fonts is:

- Document fonts folder - next to the INDD file,

- Adobe Fonts,

- System Fonts.

Fonts activated by Font Managers - depends on how they are configured.

Create some document and apply the font in question.

Open the font usage dialog (search / replace fonts)

Select the used font.

Use the "more info" button.

See the installed location of the font.

See that for example Myriad Pro Italic is a "required" font of the InDesign Installation.

Do not delete required fonts!

The red rectangle is a different font family "Myriad Variable Concept" which can demonstrate "variable font" technology, but in real life misses essential characters.

@Dirk Becker @Robert at ID-Tasker @Mike Witherell

    Gracias.

As long as the "Font" - first entry on the list of parameters - is only in one location - there is no problem.

You should avoid having the same Font, with the same FileName - in multiple locations.

In order to have the same font available in the InDesign and Illustrator - you need to have those font files in the Adobe Fonts folder - or better yet - in the System Fonts folder.

@Robert at ID-Tasker on the Mac there is also a user's font folder.

As of above, it is a bit unfortunate that Adobe provided Myriad Pro as required but incompletely family at that, so we have to do some kind of mix for it. Also they should do it consistently across the applications.

@e ch n - did any document of yours miss the semibold? "Adobe Fonts" service is quick with unintended activations. Fonts activated with the Adobe Fonts service should then be activated across the applications. It is a feature of the service to hide these fonts / bypass the file system, so only the remark (your yellow underline) is showing in the path field. You have to fight hard to keep the fonts service disabled - e.g. I have clients that only allow fonts from Monotype cloud for multiple reasons.

Illustrator has a similar concept of required fonts, it also includes Myriad Pro Regular. Unfortunately their Find/Change dialog does not show the path, I used a plug-in to look. Maybe they have another way.

@Dirk Becker

CC.app has a main toggle in (top right account icon) >> Settings >> Services

If you're working in an Enterprise team scenario, there are also ways to disable the entire section.

Disable auto activation of fonts at InDesign >> Preferences >> File Handling

Beyond that it is education - don't use undesired fonts, be cautious when related dialogs pop up.

E.g. if you encounter cross application differences between Myriad versions, and those disturb you, avoid that font. I'd agree that is easier said than done.

Provide a list of alternative fonts.

Make sure they are used in your documents, and style sources - templates, libraries.

There are also third party font management utilities, but don't ask me for any recommendations, I only come along them when I try to make a sense out of crash logs and "InDesign does not respond" scenarios here in the forums.

Gracias @Dirk Becker

    Gracias.
