Export a book to PDF and get only the alternate layout pages

We have a manual created in several files with two layouts. When exporting to PDF from the book file I don't get an opinion to pick the pages. I want to export only the alternate layout. Is  this possible? If yes how do you do it.

thank you Kathy

The Book feature doesn't allow you to export by range at all. It always assumes you want everything in the entire book, or at least an entire document to be exported/printed. You will have to export by range from each individual document within the book.

Peter Kahrel has a donationware script that allows greater control over PDF page export from InDesign book files. I've never used it, but it looks like it might be of some help. Here's a link:

Thanks for mentioning that script, Scott. Which reminds me that a while ago I upgraded that script so that you can now choose to export one or more selected alternate layouts.
