Find and change text color of specific word throughout document

I have a 300 page document and need to change a few specific words to a different color. Is there a way to easily find all the words and have them change color automatically. For example: Everytime the word "Active" shows up, I want it to be green. ButI don't want to have to go through and highlight each word then change it green manually.

Let me know if InDesign has this function as a built in feature or if there is a clever workaround. Thanks!

Correct answer Mike Witherell

First, build a character style that applies green.

Second, use Find/Replace to hunt for that word and apply the character style to it.

Let's assume you ARE using paragraph and character styles. And you should be. If so, you could also edit the paragraph style to GREP Style the word "Active" in order to passively apply the green character style. 

The bad news about using GREP Styles, is that it tends to slow the InDesign app/document way down if used heavily.
