In addition to the good information above, if you don't see rulers around your page, go to View> Show rulers. You can click and drag on the horizontal & vertical ruler to add guide lines (that do not print or export). If you want to add an actual border around your objects, you do this by adding a stroke, Window> Stroke. You can change the color in the swatches panel.

Thank you for the help but it hasn't worked.

I want to get guidelines around the photos, text and the page. If I open up another indesign document it has the lines, like so.

How do I get this on my document.

There are various kinds of guidelines. You can choose column and bleed guides when you set up your document and  under Layout > Margins and Guides and in Preferences there are Grids which includes the Baseline Grid. Also have a look at View > Extras and View > Grids and Guides. You can pull out guides via the rulers.

You can hide them via View > Screen Mode and toggle between Normal and Preview using the keyboard shortcut "w" (no quote marks). I always press Esc before hitting "w" to ensure that nothing is selected so as to prevent unwanted "w"s being inserted!

Try View > Extras > Show Frame Edges
