Question

How do you make roll-over buttons not clickable?

Working on an interactive PDF that is set up with buttons that trigger a pop-up box when rolled-over. However, if somone "clicks" on the button it selects it and screws up the layers, putting the button text on top of the popped up box. Is there a way to make a button not clickable at all, but still have the roll-over work?

Did you change the "Event" in the Button panel? The default is on release or tap, but can be changed to "On Rollover." (Not sure if you are triggering via the Event, or via changing the Rollover Appearance to show the pop-up box.)

I have events set for On Roll Over and On Roll Off, which are working, but when someone clicks is when it shows the button outline/border and pops it up over the other layers. Added a screenshot for reference.

have you tried to disable the click event action to that/those buttons  from acrobat? I think you can turn that click action off.

watch the actions section of this video: to see where the actions options are.

This is close to helping. I thought there used to be an option where you could make the click boundry/border invisble, but I don't see that option anywhere. Played around with some of these options, but it still happens. Updated the original post with a screenshot if it helps trigger any other ideas.

How about we make the button in acrobat?

You can have a word or words or an image (such as a button shape) as a document hyperlink to say another page in the document, or to an external website.
Some devices, for example, iPads, don't have rollover capability – only click – you should avoid multi-action buttons  like On Click, On Roll Over, etc.  Multi-state object (MSO) don’t work at all in an Interactive PDFs.

Agreed that this isn't the best format/option. But that ship has sailed, lol.
