Hi folks,

Is there any option to add alt text for tabes in InDesign in order to read the text in accessible PDF?

Currently, we are adding the alternative text for tables in Acrobat Professional. If the option is available is InDesign, it will be very helpful. Please advise.

    Hi there,

Right now we do not have this feature in InDesign, however, you may upvote this feature request here: Add the possibility to add alternative Text to Tables. – Adobe InDesign Feedback

This is the best way of communicating with the Engineering and Product Management teams regarding issues and suggestions so they can be implemented in future releases.

However, Alt-text is not required for tables, nor is it recommended to add it. And most assistive technologies (AT) can't process Alt-text on tables, either.

I have to ask: why are you putting Alt-text on tables?

What in your tables won't be reasonably comprehended by your users that you need to explain it with Alt-text?

If you can give some examples of why your tables need Alt-text, I might be able to give you better, more useful techniques.
