Common problem. The import hits a glitchy character or code that halts the flow.

  • Do a clean Place.
  • Put the cursor after the last character you see.
  • Tap Delete until the rest of the file flows — might be one character, might be a dozen, rarely more.

Start with a new doc.

Do a clean place - as @James Gifford—NitroPress suggested - then select 1st TextFrame - on the 1st page and:

You'll see a new window:

Now, please put cursor in this new window and hit CTRL+A:

Then hit Ctrl+T:

Then Check for NoBreak:

Untick it:

If it won't help - then select any word in the 1st Paragraph:

Then, open Paragraph Styles panel - and right mouse button on the highlighted style - 1st option:

Check KEEP OPTIONS / START PARAGRAPH - should be ANYWHERE.

Save the Word file as RTF under a new name, then open that file and save it as both DOC and DOCX. That performs several levels of cleanup on the file and one of them should import properly.

This is, by the way, a user-to-user forum, not official Adobe support. Someone might have time for a system share but it's not a usual thing.

RTF fixed most of the problems.

You work obviously without paragraph styles. So I suppose you insert manually page or section breaks. Use styles and avoid manual breaks in Word and also in InDesign.

There are styles - the problem was with DOCX saved from Google Docs - after exporting as RTF - from Google Docs - everything was OK.
