hyperlink splitted/exploded after a rtf import

Hello, I'm am facing issues with rtf text content with lots of hyperlinks

It happend when I am using the "place" menu in order to map styles with indesign styles (hyperlinks are clean when I copy and paste with formatting)
rtf files are exported from a clean google document
Basically, in the orignal text content i would have the the link on a string of characters, like "my super link" with a unique link. Once placed in indesign I would have "my" with a link referenced as "hyperlink" , a space with the same hyperlink references as "hyperlink2", "super" with a link referenced as "hyperlink 3", etc... (see screen capture)
This is very annoying in term of link managment especially when you have thousand of them 🙂

Does someone already faced this issue

For use in InDesign anything out of Google Docs is garbage in my experience. Try this:

  • Save as Word from Google Docs
  • Open that in Word and clean it up
  • Save as DOCX
  • Place DOCX in InDesign.

We actually use google docs to have a cleaner input file, a get a few style. I did a try, Gdoc-> docx->place-> map style manually, it  seems to work, the bug was coming at the style mapping, i might have missed something...

Did you already try to export the Google document as a Word document and place that. I tried it and it created the links as expected. You might want to create a bug report for the RTF behavior on InDesign Uservoice to get the attention of the Adobe Team: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs

@BobLevine I was writing my commment as you posted. Didn’t see it earlier.
