InDesign (14.0) export default

Hi there,

Just have got InDesign updated and one thing is super inconvenient... When you hit Ctrl+E it used to use the last [pdf] export profile that had been used, but now it's always 'Adobe (Interactive) PDF' always. Might sound like a minor issue, but when you have to go through lots of pages one by one it just a massive waste of time going each time through File-Adobe PDF Presets-Needed One (using mouse).

Can't see where it can be backed? Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Henry

p.s. Thought it could be resolved through Keyboard shortcut, but apparently you can't make it for a specific preset, and Ctrl+E [as mentioned] is not "sticky" anymore

I was having the same issue and found the solution to this. You have to save your file in a different destination once as print or interactive whichever you want to work with then it will save it as default and you can continue the export in your previous destination

Odd, intermittent issue. Just showed up again on the 14.02 update. I never use interactive PDF, so it should never store it in the memory of my system or any files. Just shows up at random when exporting files.

I think there is something screwy in your install. My version defaults to the last exported format. I had other issues with this release, so I ended up doing a clean install and not importing any of my previous settings. You might try that route.

Just have updated it and the issue is still here

Yep, will try to uninstall and install from the start today then. Will see if it helps

Well, Adobe should fix this problem. For me, export is defaulted to HTML every time, even though I export as PDF most of the time. I recall that I exported to HTML the very first time I used Indesign CC 2019, and its permanently stuck there.

This situation appears to be where a firm goes "backward" and removes helpful utilities so as to keep the program "balanced" every upgrade: Its as though we cannot have too many good things, otherwise what is there to upgrade and fix in the future? Quark was notorious for that. I always considered Quark 3 the very best version in terms of friendly use. After that, the product made its slow decline even as functions were added and expanded.

Anyway, if Adobe wishes to avoid this path, it would be nice if ALL panels had a set defaults option. I seriously need that for HTML, for example. I'm tired of clicking the same presets over and over and over. Why can't we set defaults and just export to HTML or PDF once?

    Oh well. Perhaps in 2020.

Apparently just a glitchy update it was. Will never ever again upgrade to a version straight away. And it's not just the export issue, but overall. And no option to go back to previous stable version

What's changed is a new default for InDesign CC 2019 (14.0) is to remember the way the document was saved last time. That was the main change made. So if  you have some files you're saving as EPUB (Reflowable) and some PDF (Print) and some PDF (Interactive), it by default saves it the same way as it different first time.

But for a new document, it's not clear where that information is stored. I opened CC 2019 and created two new documents. Cmd-E defaulted to export to Flle > Export > PDF (Print) not interactive.

I reset InDesign preferences and tested again. It also exported as PDF (Print).

Doesn't work that combination for me. Apparently that article is outdated for the current version. As was published 17 Mar 2017

The article gives two methods: The keyboard method requires you hold the keys very fast on a fast computer.

Try the other method: removing or renaming the two files in the paths provided
