InDesign 2020 (15.0.2) is creating extra folders (AdobeFnt.lst ) automatically after packaging files

Has anyone noticed that the latest version of InDesign 2020 (15.0.2) is recreating extra folders after files have been packaged with images and fonts? Basically, I just packaged a layout by saving it to an alternative 'work' folder that sits on my desktop. Once that was complete I moved the packaged folder back to the original job folder alongside other material associated with the project.

The issue occurred as soon as I opened that InDesign file once again. After doing this, a new folder (same name as the packaged material) reappeared in the 'work' desktop folder. It only contains a Document Fonts folder, so no duplicate Links or a copy of the InDesign files itself. Weird behavior though, I've not seen anything like this before and it's only started happening after the very recent upgrade.

At least the awful CMD-Z undo bug seems to have been fixed though.

I've had this problem on 2 macs, one running on Catalina 15.4 and another running on Mojave 10.14.6.

It's so bothersome.  The only way i can minimize the number of folders appearing is to constantly restart.
Is this bug with issue with Adobe inDesign?  Any insights helpful!

My latest work around is to ditch Indesign 15.0.2 and go back to 15.0.1 and wait until 15.0.3 is developed, all works fine, no folders on the desktop, you can go about your day as normal... bingo!

The AdobeFont.lst file created with InDesign packages automatically shows up with folder structure after deleting a package. Risk of making a mistake in deleting folders.  A folder with the same name is automatically generated

Hi Patrizia,

can you tell in more detail what happens? A step-by-step description of what you did perhaps?

What's your exact version of InDesign? What's your operating system's version?

Something like that was already reported today with InDesign 2020 version 15.0.2.323:

I package a file, and then once I open the new file, I found that the fonts suddenly didn't work. But that's not the whole issue. Then I change the fonts to hopefully alleviate the font issue and repackaged, this time saving to a new packaged folder name. This fixes the font error so I delete the old packaged folder. But the second that I open the new packaged InDesign document, it somehow remembers the older packaged file and brings it back to life. But not in the way that you think. It brings back the older folder structure, with only one folder in it: a "Document fonts" folder with a "AdobeFnt21.lst" file.

Any assistance woudl be greatly appreciated. Never noticed this issue until I updgraded to Adobe InDesign 2020.

Hi Sergio,

you are describing a known bug with InDesign 15.0.2.323.

Two workarounds:

1. Go back to version 15.0.1.

2. After packaging a document immediately quit and restart InDesign.

The developers are working on a solution…

Hi Catty,

as I already said: The developers working on a fix.

You could sign-in to Prerelease, join the program and do a test with the latest prerelease version of InDesign:

Since the latest update (15.0.2), whenever I open any INDD document, INDD creates a "collected" folder of every job I've worked on (and packaged) since the update and places it on my desktop. Even if I'm just going in to make a quick revision, when I close it, there are several new (packaged collect) folders back on my desktop again. EVERY. TIME. I know this is a new glitch since the update, but it's rather annoying. Any workarounds yet?

This is getting frustrating

Everytime I package contents in indesign the package folder duplicates and creates empty folders with the same folder name with only the document fonts.

If I change the folder name of contents I just packaged, it duplicates the folders with only the documents fonts.

Can this get fixed ASAP.

Hi,

For some reasons I cannot open the screenshot you included.

Packaging creates a folder with a complete set of files to allow transfer to another computer (Windows or Mac). It means this process will create duplicates of what you have been using so far.
