Indesign CS6 Crashes on Mac OS Mojave

Hi, I have a Mac Book Pro from 2014. I am working with CS6 on it. Up to the latest update about a week ago was zero problem. Since then when I start Indesign it immediately crashes.

I updated Adobe and tried a lot of different thing but it did not resolve it.

I had only in one way operation if I log in as Root User and than it stays stable and can work with it.

I do not really want to work as a root user all the time, I consider it a bit too dangerous.

I think it is a permission problem as the last update was on security. This is just a guess.

Is there anyone that could have a look at it?

What did you mean when you said that you had "updated Adobe"? There haven't been updates for CS6 in a long time. One other suggestion to add to Bob's, if you want to keep using CS6 buy an old Mac from eBay with an OS earlier than El Capitan and run it on that.

Affinity suite is becoming a valid alternative...

...if your needs are modest and your expectations are set low. Testers have reported a lot of bugs. Just saying.

Downgraded to Sierra, works perfectly again. Thanks anyhow all the input. Sorry for being stubborn, I just could not believe that there is no solution.

I see you marked your own response as correct. While you may be lucky enough to run CS6 on Sierra, it's not supported on anything later than 10.10 so I've unmarked it as correct and instead chose one of the multiple responses pointing that out.

Whether it is supported or whether it runs are two different things. CS6 works up to High Sierra (10.13) - all the apps are functioning well on my iMac with that OS. It's not a question of luck - it works. Computers don't work by luck - they are entirely logical devices. Your attitude to the OP is rather patronising and unhelpful IMO. Your comment to "Roll back to that, upgraded to CC, learn to live with it, or find an alternative layout application" seems to reflect your lack of practical experience running CS6 on a later OS and makes your adjustment of the OPs 'Correct' attribution look like an unjust intervention.

CS6 is not supported in Mac OS X 10.14.

Stop working as Super User as it can cause huge damage to the computer. The super user is only for were rare administration work and is reserved for repairing tasks of your computer, but not to work in that environment.

I am now a veteran of updating to Mojave without understanding the terrible consequences of doing so to my old Adobe inDesign. I spent so many hours trying to get a solution, it is embarrassing.

The advice to get an older machine with old OS and run CS6 is very sound advice.

Sorry, I updated Mojave as there was a security update, not CS6.

Dear Bob, I have seen you reply on this matter for other similar questions and I must say that this must be incorrect, because if I log on as Root I can use Indesign CS6 with no problem. Also before the last update (about a week ago) I was using it with also no problem. I have CS6 web premium package and all other elements are fully functional with no problem, only InDesign. So I suggest to reconsider your statement and let others to find the solution. Thank you!

The real point is that CS6 is not supported for Mojave. You certainly are free to try running as Root but you should be aware that whatever success you have with it will be a matter of luck. There is no safety net.
