Indesign question: I have this spread (8.5 x 11) that I want to transfer to a similar A1 sized document however when I do so the type gets messed up or changed. I was suggest to do this by creating a PDF but I was wondering if there was any way tthat this can be copy pasted. Alternatly if a PDF is the only solution what would be the best way / settings to do so

You could import the 8,5 x 11 InDesign file in the A1 file, then resize it as you wish.

The proportions are different. Your 11˝ × 17˝ spread is proportionally taller than an A4 page. Others have suggested resizing a placed InDesign file, which will work but it will distort the text. If you are OK with that then go ahead. If it matters how the text looks you will have to reformat for the new proportions. It’s just one spread so it shouldn’t take long. It will take a bit of work, but I doubt it will be all that difficult.
