Indesign menu bar not highlighting use of keyboard shortcuts

Dear New Friends,
I'm a long-time user of Indesign, but have only now had to upgrade to Creative Cloud. The menu bar in my new Light Color Theme does not highlight the relevant menu item when I use/perform a standard keyboard shortcut: Command-c does not make the menu bar item "Edit" flash/highlight/indicate that the shortcut has been performed.
I've rummaged through all the Preferences, and can't find any that might pertain to this behavior. I've also struck out Googling for an answer.
As a senior citizen with not-so-good-anymore eyesight, and a hunt-and-peck typist, I need the visual assurance that's now missing!
Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all for your prompt replies. I'll repost this post in the InDesign User Voice page. And gee whiz, I just noticed the same lack of flash in my Firefox browser. Yet, I see the flash when key-boarding in Text Edit. This needs more testing Is it a Mac OS Ventura thing? I've just replaced a 2014 model 32-bit chip Mac Mini running High Sierra with a 2023 64-bit Mini running Ventura.

    OK, testing... flashers: Safari, Text Edit, Contacts, Keynote. Nonflashers: Indesign (of course), Google Earth, Firefox. Beyond me! I'll repost, but this is too deep for amateurs!

    Hi @Bucky Edgett,

     

    We understand your frustration. It can be difficult to use keyboard shortcuts without visual feedback. You may try changing the color theme from the Preferences in InDesign and see if that helps you.

    Dear Harshika. Chaging the Color Theme did not solve the problem. Thank you, though for the suggestion..

      Hi Bucky:

       

      What a fascinating question! All my years working on a computer and relying heavily on keyboard shortcuts and I've never noticed the flash, but tried it here in my browser (Safari—dark interface) with your text and sure enough, saw the Edit menu flash when I used the shortcut for Copy. I headed over to InDesign (dark interface) and it didn't. 

       

      This is a user-to-user form so we cannot implement any changes to the application, so I recommend that you post this on the InDesign User Voice page as a feature request.
