Dear all.,

Could someone help me if it is possible to indent stroke from an object? For instance if you have a triangle with stroke is there any way how to indent its stroke inside the triangle? I mean the stroke will not be at the edge of an object, but e. g. 1 cm or so inside the shape. Is it possible?

Thank you very much fod help and advice.

Tom

No, there is no way to do that that I'm aware of. But you can accomplish the appearance you want with one more than one step if you use Adobe Illustrator, NOT InDesign. InDesign has no Offset Path command, Illustrator does.

(1) Original triangle with 10 pt stroke, centered on path:

(2) Choose Object > Path > Offset Path, and enter a negative value to make another triangle inset from the first by a negative value:

(3) After applying the offset, there are now two triangles. Select the original and set the stroke to None. If necessary, group the two triangles together:

Note that I was using Illustrator, not InDesign. I've been going back and forth so much this week between the two that I forgot that I was in the InDesign forum.
