Having issues here... strobe effect when selecting text etc... driving me insane.

Looks like I need to wipe and restore from backup. 4+ hours lost 😞

Or turn off the rulers in InDesign if you can live without them.

Yes, am currently struggling to get CC InDesign to work properly with OS Sonoma - highlighting text in a document results in the screen flashing and going white so that one cannot see what one is doing accurately. Very frustrating! I hope Adobe will be able to fix this issue with a new upgrade!

Again, we have no idea who's issue it is to fix but as for the flashing, I read somewhere that turning off the rulers has helped some users. Give it a try.

Thank you Bob, turning off the rulers does indeed stop the flashing - will see if I can cope without them.

Wait for it to get fixed. Lots of issues are being reported from early adopters who didn't bother to check for compatibility or test their apps with the Sonoma betas

It really is Adobe who did not bother to check during the months of development of macOS Sonoma.

In my opinion it is their job to inform us about all the things that don't work. Soon enough all new Macs we can buy will come with Sonoma preinstalled.

I'd just like to throw my own two cents worth about this topic by reprinting my response to a similar question:

"It is never a good idea to update to a brand new operating system. It must be kept in mind that when a new Mac OS is being developed Apple does not take into account any third party software and how it will run on the new OS. Software manufacturers such as Adobe and others must always wait and see what is needed to make their product compatible after the OS is released. It's always a game of catch-up. I personally always wait several months (or even longer) before updating. In following this forum it can usually be seen when is a good time for updating. It's when the posts about InDesign and other programs not functioning properly with the OS trickle down to few to none. This usually happens after several OS bug fixes and compatibility upgrades of the software."

I would also suggest turning off Auto-updates on the computer. Being able to make an educated choice about whether to update or not will always help to avoid disasters with using software that you may be relying on to make a living.

I agree 100%. And this was the first time I have done that in at least a decade. I just kind of did it thinking this one wouldn't be. abig deal as it seemed mor eincremental than anythign revolutionary. But I shall go back to my cautious ways in the future, fo rsure!

I have also done a complete reinstall of Create Cloud and InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Collect for output now works properly without hanging. But side menus STILL will not work on multiple monitors- which really stinks.

I have the same setup so I will wait to install Sonoma on my Mac Studio with 2 connected Apple Displays.

I can confirm that side menus do not work in Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator on Sonoma with multiple displays (if, like me, you keep your tabs on a separate monitor). They will only appear on your designated main display if you bring the tab on the main display.

It still doesn't work with Adobe CC 2024 … the panels on a secondary monitor.

See my comment on your other post. I am convinced it's an Adobe issue. It's maddening! Is it happening with Photoshop? Because if it's not, then it's not an Apple issue. For me, it was strictly an Indesign issue. Functionality in Illustrator and Photoshop was just fine. I mentioned it to the InDesign "support staff," and they dismissed it as a problem with the OS User.

I've also deleted Indesign and its preferences and re-installed it. Issues are the same: Package for Output does not work. Contextual menus and submenus in palettes will not show up on secondary monitors. It is slow- especially when saving files, almost to the point where it is unusable in a high-volume workflow.

Updated to Sonoma and InDesign 18.5 today. Now I have the strobe effect when I select parts of text in InDesign. Switching GPU on and off does not make a change. If updates will not solve this, will try move back to Ventura.

Not getting a strobe effect. But I also noticed that none of the "hamburger" menu items in the tabs show up on secondary monitors- they only work if I move them to my primary monitor. I keep all my frequently used tabs on a separate monitor to give me more screen real estate.

The same thing happens to me, that intermittency causes me displeasure.

I updated to Sonoma last night. And the package feature results in InDesign hanging. InDesign is also very slow just to save. Definitely NOT working properly. It's not as if Adobe didn't have enough time to make sure this worked properly.

Same here. It's really a slug now on Sonoma. Hopefully a patch is coming soon.

There are all kinds of issues with Sonoma. I've read a couple of reports that 14.2 improves things.

I suspect there is an NDA.  That means that people who say "yes, I am running Sonoma and InDesign info is --- " would be breaching the NDA, and could face unlimited fines for violating the NDA. It's not fair to ask. (No, I can't know whether there is an NDA, because the existence of an NDA is often one of the protected secrets).
