I am having trouble copying and pasting one row to another in tables in indesign. I can copy the row but when I go to paste the " paste is greyed out" it does not paste even with command v.
I never had this problem before. I used to do it all the time. THE FOMAT IS EXACTLY THE SAME in both rows
HELP!!!
It's about the number of COLUMNS in the copied row(s).
You can select as many rows - and columns - as you want - but if the "destination" is smaller - InDesign won't allow you to paste.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/
p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

did you read my messages? if so, did you check the forum list? if so, do you think the indesign forum would be a good spot to post indesign questions?
if yes, then do no further posting about this issue (yet) because that's where i've moved your messages https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-tables/m-p/15222729#M617060

All @kglad was saying is that if you have an InDesign question, post it in the InDesign forum. Over 90% of the forums answers are from unpaid users.

Why don't you simply move the rows? Select them, then position the cursor over the selected rows and drag them to the new location. You will see the desired location with a “bold” effect.

I never tried that before. After your suggestion I tried it and the rows didn't move. (maybe I don't know how to do that)
I am trying to copy 3 rows from one page to another. In the past, I have just selected the row>copy>paste in a new blank row. I do not want to move the row, I want the same information in 3 new rows, then I will make a few slight copy changes

But we don't know if OP wants to move or duplicate?
And, we don't know if OP is talking about the same Table - but, just in case - it won't work for different tables.

InDesign won't let you paste - if there is not a SUFFICIENT number of Columns.
You can copy and paste LESS - but you can't paste MORE.
The same goes for Rows - and by extension - ranges / areas.

The table has exactly the same amount of rows. I copied the page. It is my monthly calendar. I copied feb and named it march. see the attachment. Thank you for trying to help me ☺

Still can't tell if you are selecting the rows.
(I used Cntl-C/Cmd-C and Cntl-V/Cmd-V to copy and paste.)

Thank you David for your help. I am still struggling so I made two videos for you.
For illustration puposes I did not use the short cut command keys- I did it the long way so that you can see the greyed drop down menu (added attachment)
Also the heigth of the rows and the width of the columns + number of columns are exactly the same.
I used to be able to copy from one table to another table on a different page. Has that changed??

My tables are independent of each other.
I can't quite make out what the problem is. Make sure you have the same number of columns, including counting merged columns (if you merged three cells into one, it still counts as three columns).
Otherwise, upload a sample file.

Yes, there is a split column in the source table:

The column count does not match.
As soon as I added another column to the March table, it pasted without problems.

I completely understand that I have to have the exact same amount of columns. I understood that 3 days ago.
What I don't understand is where the table drop down is coming up with the #13.
I only count 10-11 at the most. Where is InDesign getting that # from?? (see example-my count in yellow)

Visually I only count 10 columns-On both documents. Is something hidden because the "table box" says 13 and 12?
Am I counting the columns wrong? Did you see my example?
