InDesign XML Import Use Text in Multiple Places

Hello InDesign World!

Is it possible to import XML into InDesign and have one line of text show up in multiple places? We want to reuse text in our document, but it seems rather redundant to have to duplicate the text to get it to show up in multiple places.

Please help.

Thanks!

Can you go into a little more detail about your workflow here? Did you export XML from InDesign, translate, and then re-import? Are you exporting XML from some other content repository and trying to flow it into a tagged-up InDesign template?

Yes, let me give more detail. We create our content outside of InDesign and then export the XML from a content management system to import into InDesign using automatic layout as much as possible. We have an InDesign template set up with placeholder frames. This is for a magazine, so we have articles and a table of contents in our InDesign file. We'd like to use the text from each article that has the article title, author, and summary in the table of contents. The easiest way for us would be to have that text in the XML once and then have it show up in InDesign twice (in both the article and the table of contents). That way if we needed to update the text, we'd only have to do it in one place. Is there a way to tag placeholder frames so the text will show up in multiple frames? Or another way to accomplish this?
