Hi experts,

I have 1200 pages book and generate the Index from the Wordlist (1500 words) which is provided in the text file. I don't want to apply the character/para style on that 1500 words one by one which is obvious take a longer time.

I had gone through the script index_topics_list.jsx by the Peter but it's not working. We are not afford the 3rd party plugin IndexMatic.

Is it any script to read those words from the text file and generate the Index for this long document.

Your precious time will help me to take out from this swamp.

Thanks in Advance.

Amit

What does "it's not working" mean? Do you see an error? Does it work but you get different results than you expected? Does it seem as if nothing at all happens? For your info, the script you mentioned creates page references in your InDesign document, you then generate the index from InDesign's Index panel. If you want an independent index, use this one.

Thanks Peter for your response. I know you are an expert in InDesign Scripting.

When I run the script then I got the error as ambiguous result: and the rest of the page is blank.

Actually, I don't want to put the 1500 words in Index panel one by one manually or apply any style on them which will be extracted from the style and created the index from your index-direct script.

I think you would get my points.

Please suggest.

Well, no, I don't get your points. What do you mean by 'the error as ambiguous result'?

> or apply any style on them which will be extracted from the style

This I don't understand. That script doesn't create or apply any styles.
