Issue with Constrain Proportions in InDesign 2025 (20.0)

Community Beginner ,
Oct 22, 2024 Oct 22, 2024

Constrain proportions for width and height in InDesign 2025 (20.0) is broken. In previous versions of InDesign the constrain-status would stay the way you selected always, now you have to link it every time you scale something, it's quite annoying and adds an extra step to workflow.

Hi everyone / G_Man,

I’m happy to share that the issue with Constrain Proportions has been fixed! The fix has been implemented in InDesign 20.1.0.36, and the team has retested it on both Windows and Mac to ensure it’s working as expected.

Please update your InDesign to the next coming version once made available publicly (20.1) via the Creative Cloud app to apply the fix.

Thank you all for your patience and feedback throughout this process. If you encounter any further issues or have question

Yea, this is driving me insane! I'm just going to delete it and use the old version - Unfortunately this issue doesn't seem like it is a priority based on this thread.

Dear Abhishek,

Come on - you guys and girls have had too far long to "investigate" this issue. Make my day and tell me this is going to be sorted in 2024. You said this mater has been "prioritized". If that were the case, then this would have been dealt with by now. This is a joke that has gone on far too long.

I suspect the issue is on their list of things to fix but just not top priority. They are probably trying to get the Mac bog down fixed first. I don't believe Adobe can say anything other than they are aware of the problem. Otherwise, it could create legal problems if not fixed properly. That's also why you don't get timeframes.

Dear Abhishek .

The latest update 20.0.01 - does NOT fix this bug!!! Can you PLEASE tell us all when you intend to release an update with this problem sorted out once and for all? This is not rocket science.

Regards,

Gary Anderson.

Hello @G_Man,

Thank you for your feedback.

I understand your frustration, and I want to assure you that the issue with the chain symbol is still being actively investigated by our team. We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed of any progress. If you have any other concerns or need assistance in the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Hi Abhishek,

Thanks for your message, but honestly, I don't think you do understand everyone's frustration. Converting all 2025 files back to 2024 versions is definitely not progress, I can assure you. I refuse to believe that this is being dealt with by professionals - it simply doesn't take this long to fix something that worked perfectly before. Adobe need to find new developers. It's a joke.
