Hello there
I have a problem exporting a project (poetry book) to PDF with "bleed". It combines text pages with "full-page" images (where bleed is needed). The PDF is generated as follows even though I adjusted the bleeding at export to 3mm on all sides:
I received a call from the printer requesting 3mm of bleeding on each page and each side. Where do I go to do that? My InDesign CS5 version.

I'm not sure what you mean here, but you may be seeing bleed from a facing page on a page that otherwise has no need for bleed (text page), if that's the case, you can set the inside bleed to zero in the document setup (I think you can do that in CS5), or change that full image page to a non-facing page, where that page can have bleed on 4 sides*. Export using the PDF/X-4 setting (using document bleed settings), unless your

When you export to a PDF, did you switch on "Use Document Bleed Settings"?

Is there actually bleed in your document? Not only the export settings, but images or background extending outside the pages.

I'm not sure what you mean here, but you may be seeing bleed from a facing page on a page that otherwise has no need for bleed (text page), if that's the case, you can set the inside bleed to zero in the document setup (I think you can do that in CS5), or change that full image page to a non-facing page, where that page can have bleed on 4 sides*. Export using the PDF/X-4 setting (using document bleed settings), unless your printer tells you otherwise.
*edit, this is rarely needed, except possibly for spiral or perfect bound books.
