Links in InDesign File Missing

We are a newspaper and place ads (pdf files) on a InDesign file on the specific pages as they are approved.  So the PDF links and InDesign file are stored in a folder on our network so everyone has access to them.  Lately when we open the InDesign file the links are all missing. No PDF files or InDesign file has moved from the location on the server. The company that takes care of our server and computers has recently done updates on the server, but they say it wouldn't have anything to do with what they have done. Thanks.

Network can cause multiple issues with InDesign. All flavors of this app are really picky about network connectivity, it's a known problem. The best workflow so far is keeping all links at the local machine. And keep your copy of ID fully updated. They say, 2017.1 latest patch has some issues fixed... Fingers crossed?

Sounds like a server issue. Have there been any changes made? Are the ID files in the same folder as the links? Do the links have any illegal characters in the files names or accented characters?

As for working locally, that is simply not realistic in this type of environment so it's essential to make sure the network is configured and maintained properly and that all users have proper permissions for access.
