Log file (utils_log.txt) keeps on showing up on desktop

For the past couple of months when I create a new document in InDesign 16 (currently using 16.4) a new document "utils_log.txt" shows up on my desktop. If I open up an existing indd file the log file does not show up.

---

The file just contains:

"!!! 😞 e

Error: Unsaved documents have no full name. "

---

If I don't remove the log tile and I create a new document the same copy after that right after that.

I have removed and reinstalled InDesign and it still happens. Any ideas on why this document keeps on showing up? How do I stop it from happening?

Running:

iMac Pro w/OS 11.6

Hi Nick,

sounds more like a startup script that is leaving its traces like a log file on your Desktop.

Did you recently install anything like that from a 3rd-party source?

When the log files stared to show up, I had not installed anything. I have even completely removed ID multiple times since then and still have the same problem.

Worth checking the scripts folder for startups scripts in any case... Those would not be removed unless you ran the cleaner tool.

Hi Nick,

Sorry to hear about your experience. This is really unusual. Have you tried resetting the preferences of the app to see if it helps?

You may also try using Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove the existing installation of the app & install the app again. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Ashutosh
