Open copy of active document

Hi everyone,

Opening a copy of an InDesign document is something I do all the time, and I was wondering if this step could be done faster with the help of scripting.

While searching around the web, I found this script written by Dave Saunders years ago, which for some reason only works the first time when I use it, then it just makes InDesign lagging like crazy and nothing happens. What could also work for me is to be able to open a copy of the active document, in a way like Photoshop does with the "New Document" option from the History panel. Does anyone know if such a thing would be possible with some JS magic ?

Thanks a lot for any help.

Well, if I've understood correctly, this one-liner will open a copy of the currently active document:

app.open(document.fullName, true, OpenOptions.OPEN_COPY);

Is that what you're looking for?

Doesn't File > Save a Copy do what you're asking?

Hi Ariel,

No I don't want to save a copy of the document in a new file, just open a copy of it like when you do File > Open and chose "Open Copy" (hope it's more clear).
