Paste Without Formatting Greyed Out

Windows 10, Adobe InDesign 19.0.1

I am trying to copy and paste text from one INDD file to another; and the formatting is changing between file types.

The option to "Paste Without Formatting" is greyed out. I'd tried the various solutions mentioned on this forum and changed the Preferences, restarted the computer. And it's still not working.

Maybe this is a bug with the latest roll-out? Any other suggestions on how to fix?

The preferences change would have no effect, because that applies only to pasting text from other applications (web, MS Word, etc.). CC can be weird about updates sometimes. It's fine most of the time, but it is not uncommon for an update to result in an unpredicable outcome. I would try resetting preferences (Ctrl-Alt-Shift/Cmd-Option-Shift while opening the app) first, to see if that clears it up. If not, uninstall, restart, reinstall, and try again.

I've tried all the combinations I can think of, and I haven't been able to reproduce what you're seeing, so the above is my best suggestion unless you have more info.

The Ctrl-Alt-Shift worked. Thank you.

If you copy and paste text from one ID doc to another... And the text is controlled with paragraph styles... And the Paragraph style is based on Basic Paragraph Style (boo! no!) ... And the other document has a Basic Paragraph Style that is different from the first ID document...

Then when you paste, it will change the attributes to the Basic Paragraph Style of the new document.

That's not the case here. They both have the same Basic Paragraph Style. It's formatting it in a way I have never seen.
