Hi there,

I have a query regarding Indesign CC. I would still be able to save on the local machine, right? With regards to saving to cloud, is there a way to disable this?

Thanks.

    Hi,

Yes with InDesign CC, you can save your InDesign files to your local machine, your local server or the cloud.

To some what disable saving to the cloud you can do this:...

    1. Open Creative cloud

    2. Go to the Preferences and then to Files

    3. From there you can turn off Syncing of the files to the "Creative Cloud" library

Only files saved to the folder specified in the above highlighted location are synced... (this folder can be changed)

You can also manage your synced assets from "Files" section of the assets portion of the creative cloud...

As previous posters have explained, the application is installed on your computer in the usual way. But it's vital that – as well as saving your files to your local drive – you back up your important documents to an external source, such as the cloud, CD, and /or external drive, so that if your computer breaks, is stolen or whatever, you can carry on working on another computer and you don't loose your work.

Like the Creative Suite version of InDesign, InDesign CC is an application that's installed locally on your machine. It opens and saves files to your machine, just like older versions did.

There is some Creative Cloud storage that works like Dropbox (they both store the files locally and sync them to the cloud so they can also be accessed by other computers, etc), but you do not have to use it. Just don't save into the special Creative Cloud folder.
