Setting up a saddle stitched booklet automatically from a PDF?

I have a 24 page pdf that needs to be setup saddle stitched to print, normally, I would take each page and manually add each page in the correct re-order to print, but I was wondering if there is a way to set up booklets from a pdf and automatically have them aligned correctly as a way to save time?

Thanks.

There is an option for booklet printing in the print driver; you may not need to rearrage the pages at all. If you do need to set up the document to printer spreads, there imposition plugs ins available. I think some of the basic ones are free. (I don't use them, so I can't recommend one)

This is what I do, it is 48 page saddle stitch magazine. Set up your parent pages. I have four because I have color and black n white. On those pages I place magazine name and a letter for numbering.

If you're printing this yourself, SJR's suggestions are all spot on. If, however, you're passing this to a professional printer, check with them. Imposition from linear pages is a standard press step and they may prefer to let their RIP software etc. do it.
