Text Frames Not Appearing Correctly Beneath Images in InDesign

New Here ,

I'm new to ID - so I'm not 100% sure of the terminology.

I have a text frame with images. I'm attempting to add a caption using another text frame, but I can't and do not understand why or how I can fix it. I create a new text frame outside the layout, but the text disappears when I attempt to put the text frame (caption) beneath the image.

If I try to use the caption feature through ID, it, too, does not appear properly beneath the image.

In other words, the text looks fine until I attempt to place it on another text frame.

I'm attempting to place names beneath the images below.

Obviouisly, I'm doing something wrong and would appreciate any help to resolve this.

I would take the images out of the textframes and place them where you want them. I would then use the static captions option on them. With that done, I would turn on the text wrap (Window/Text Wrap) for them and the captions.

Thank you. I got the caption feature to work fine. I'm fully committed to learning this application and have an online course ready. But it's so slow, and the lessons fall short of my specific needs.

In the above example, I ended up creating three text frames that surround the image. For some reason, the captions cannot work if the image is within a text frame.

When they were in the text frame did they already have text wrap on? If so, Scott Falkner's post will probably fix it. The captions are affected by the text wrap as well if it is not on the group of them and the image.

So maybe, turn off text wrap. Make the captions. Group the images and captions together and turn on the text wrap for the group.

Select the text frame with the captions and press Command B or Control B. Turn on Ignore Text Wrap.
