TLDR - I have a text box on multiple documents with identical object and paragraph styles, identical size/position etc and identical positioning/size of the background image but on one file the text box is higher than all the rest for no apparent reason.
I have a set of documents in a book, and I've synced the paragraph and object styles across them.
They all have a text box at the same location with slightly varied text in each one. The text has a paragraph style applied, no character styles and the text box has an object style applied.
I created all of these decks from the same template and data merged them. So there is no reason that this text box is not in the right place on two of the files. It's a crazy small difference but it's highly noticeable as the space is very small already and it throws everything out.
There are no local overrides and I've checked the styles have no differences in size and position or text frame indents/margin (object style - for both text and object) or indents/baseline shifts (paragraph style).
I have also copy and pasted in place the text box from one file to another and they do not line up. I have also copy and pasted in place the backgrounds in case those were off, they are not. If I reduce the opacity of one background from another file over the top of the background in the erroneous file, everything lines up perfectly.
Example of the box where it should be. You can see the top of the text box lines up with the top of the paper curl of the background.
But inexplicable on this file, the box is higher up, lining up with the other piece of paper above.
There is no reason I can fathom for this text box to be in a slightly higher position than the same box on every single other file. I am utterly stumped, help me out hive mind! What am I missing?
Thanks

Did you check the baseline grid settings?
Are the use object styles for the text frame the same?

Hmm not sure which setting Baseline Grid is?
In the Paragraph Style "Baseline" under Advanced Character formats is the same (0) and "Align to Grid" under Indents and Spacing is the same (None).
The text frames have the same object style, which has the settings for everything, these are the categories I specifically checked that I know could impact the position:
and they are the same under both Object and Text in this dropdown menu:
Is that what you meant by your second question or is there another setting somewhere I may have missed?
The quick solution would be to just edit the object style on the wrong file to position the box down a bit but then if I have to edit anything else when I update the styles throughout the book it will mess it up again 😕

If a text is aligned to the baseline grid is found in the paragraph style in the same section as space before and after.
The baseline grid itself is setup in the preferences but an alternative grid can be set up in the object styles.
under certain circumstances the upper margin can have an influence where it starts.

Seems clear to me the positions of the two text frames in the supplied images are different.

Ah I see! No baseline grid is set up so don't think that's the issue. And if it were, both files came from the same data merge template/source file os it would surely be the same anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though!

@Isoneryum, I'm wondering why there is no # text end mark in the first text box?

Because screenshot has been made with "Hide Hidden Characters".

Yep was just because hidden characters was off. It's exactly the same though - thought you might have cracked it until I checked haha! Sadly not 😞

But the box IS higher up?
If you move it down and save - will it be higher up after you open it again?
Can you share two example files - one good and one bad? Can be on priv of course.

I did think that, but because the files are in a book, if I change any of the styles and re-sync them I don't want the boxes to revert back to their incorrect positions. I think that's just what I'll have to do though. I think we are wrapping up now so shouldn't be an issue, fingers crossed.
I'll PM you the files though as it would be good to know what on earth is going on, if you do have the time to take a look and ensure the files are correct for any future amendments/prints which it's likely there will be. Thank you for the very generous offer!

No problem.
I don't think styles have anything to do here?
For me it looks like just an accidental shift? Unless you can replicate it?
Columns "Pos Y" and "Center Y".
