Hi everyone,

I want to create a single TOC of a book, which each indd file is in different languages.

But, I need that the title of the TOC, changes for every language, i mean something like that:

Index

1..sdfasdfasf....21

2. sdfsadf as....22

Índice

1..sdfasdfasf....21

2. sdfsadf as....22

Is it possible to do using only a single TOC for all the book?

Thanks in advance,

Marta

Are you saying the book contains multiple languages in a single edition, or multiple editions each with a single language?

If the latter, how are you handling it? A separate layer for each language, along with unique style names for each language, would allow you to create a TOC on each layer.

The book contains multiple languages, one indd for each language, same style paragraphs for all book.

You could conceivably still do multiple TOCs by creating new styles for each language, based on the original style (and I would do that in any case, so that you can assign the correct language to the text as part of the style in order to get the correct hyphenation and quotation marks). You might even be able to combine them into a single TOC and use conditional text to show only one language at a time.

You can put the language label text in a non-printing text frame at the top of the appropriate page--or as text with a color of none in the flow. Then, just include the language label as part of the TOC in Level 1 position. Move the items with page numbers to level 2.
