Hi, same problem here all day. All other apps work except PS, AI, ID.
<Title renamed by moderator>
Hi everyone,
We’ve received reports of apps crashing or becoming unresponsive after launch, particularly following the release of version 19.5. Unlike generic crashes, this issue specifically causes all Adobe apps to get stuck at the splash screen or enter a “not responding” state, preventing them from launching.
The problem has been traced to certain Beta Adobe applications related to video composition and editing. We recommend updating all Beta and released versions of video-specific Adobe

For the past week I have had to reinstall Indesign 2024 four times because it would work for a little while and then crash upon opening the program, over and over again. I updated my OS to see if that would fix it and so far it hasn't crashed, but now it is super buggy. The screen glitches if I move anything around on the artboard and everything is lagging. My .indd file icons are just white blank squares now. I assume this is just a bug within the latest Indesign update, but it is seriously affecting my workflow. If anyone has a fix or if I need to just wait for the next update, let me know!

I managed to get the app to open by adding folders (or deleting them) from the "Plug-Ins" folder.
I don't know whats going on. Once opened, InDesign 2024 would work fine, until I quit the app. Then it wouldn't open again.
I would delete/Add folders and then it would start like normal, until I quit the app.
I gave up and reverted back to 2023.

Hi Hello Moon:
What operating system, exactly?
InDesign 2024 is definitely buggy as you pointed out, but your OS may not be helping. If you are on a Mac, InDesign is not supported on Sonoma 14 or 14.1. This is still a work in progress. You can roll back to 13.6 or 13.6.1 and you can reinstall InDesign 2023 From the CC desktop app, if it removed it automatically when you updated.

Aside from operating system incompatibility problems after an InDesign update can be happening if you chose the option to import previous settings and preferences. Keeping old preferences after an upgrade has been shown over and over again to hamper performance and increase headaches. Try deleting your InDesign preferences and see if that helps. Doing so will reset the program to its defaults. Hopefully a clean set of preferences will improve the program's performance.
To do so:
For Macintosh Users: The User Library folder in which InDesign’s preferences are stored is hidden by default on most Macintoshes. To access it make sure that InDesign is closed and click on the desktop to launch a Finder Window (Command-N). With this window in column view follow the path User>Home folder (it’s the folder with an icon that looks like a house—it may have the user’s name rather than “Home”) and click on the Home folder. With the Option Key pressed choose Library from the Finder Go Menu. “Library” will now appear within the Home folder. Within the Library folder find the folder called Preferences and within it find the folder called “Adobe InDesign” and the file called “com.adobe.InDesign.plist” and delete both that folder and that file. When InDesign is next launched it will create new preference files and the program will be restored to its defaults.
For Windows Users: You can try the quick way of resetting on a PC which is to hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift when launching InDesign and respond affirmatively when asked if you want to reset. There have been some recent reports that the window asking if you want to reset is not popping up but that the prefs are being reset anyway. If this works great but if it doesn’t you may have to manually delete them.
To do so: On Windows 7 and above the preference files are hidden. To find them go to the Control Panel and open Folder Options and then click the View tab. Then select “Show hidden files and folders” or “Show hidden files, folders or drive options” in Advanced Settings. Then delete (or rename) the folder at the end of this path: C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\<Version #>\<Language>. Make sure that InDesign is closed when you do this. When you relaunch the program it will create new preference files and the program will be at its default settings.
The advantage of manually deleting preference files is that after you’ve reset up the program (make sure that no document window is open) to your liking, you can create copies of your personalized “mint” preference files (make sure that you quit the program before copying them—that finalizes your customization) and use them in the future to replace any corrupt versions you may need to delete.

Ever since I updated InDesign to the 2024 version, when I open it, it closes during loading. No error message, nothing. The only thing that "fixes" the issue is uninstalling it (I'm keeping the preferences). Then I get to use it, but when I turn off the computer and try to open InDesign the next day, it crashes again while loading.
Should I wait for a new update or is there something I should do? Since I have no error message, I have no idea what it could be, and it baffles me that reinstalling it solves this problem (but just for the day).

Same problem here on the CC Indesign v19 and v18.5. I'm on Mac M1 pro. I can run a first time Indesign but the next time it crash instantly, even after removing the preferences. I had to install an older version (v18).
Any tips are welcome !
Thanks !

What macOS, @Martín23924235scis, @Maxence27138784ojea, @Daniel27827036tc26 and @katrinar17753784?
While I'm offering recommendations, I recommend disabling auto-updates in your CC Desktop app. This will allow you to control when you update and whether or not you remove earlier versions of InDesign. If auto-updates are on, the applications can update while you are out of the office and you'll come in and find all these issues and your older applications uninstalled. ☹️

This update is messy, and is compounded by recent Sonoma upgrade option. Ventura 13.6.1. and InDesign 2023 will give you the most stable environment until the Adobe team gets all this worked out. And they are working on it.

I dont think this problem is related to version 19 (2024). For me, it has been happening ever since version 18.4. People keep suggesting to delete preferences, but that does absolutely nothing. See https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/indesign-version-18-4-won-t-launch-on-2023-macbo...
I've submitted multiple tickets, but Adobe doesn't really seem to care about it.
I've just downgraded indesign to < 18.3, which stops the crashing.
