Question

Unable to open InDesign on Windows 7

I started a free trial today for the sole purpose of using InDesign. The installation went fine, and after it was done, I tried to open it from the Creative Cloud, but only heard a error message "ding", but no error message popped up. I tried to open the program directly. Same thing happened. I tried to run it as administrator. Same thing happened. I uninstalled and reinstalled without any issues... and same thing happened. If it doesn't work from a fresh install, I don't know what the issue could be.

Any ideas?

Just purchased InDesign, and it freeze on Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

It does not work in Windows Safe Mode (with network support) as well.

BobLevine no RAM issues at all. InDesign takes 500 000 kb, and I have more than 50% free. Same with CPU, 98% free.

Thank you for help and your time anyway.

I hope srishtib8795206 can suggest something based on event log error.

Thanks for trying the above-mentioned steps. Event viewer log doesn't show any information related to InDesign crash. As mentioned by Bob, the last option we are left with is uninstalling InDesign with Cleaner tool by following these steps:

    1. Uninstall InDesign with cleaner tool: Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

    2. Remove InDesign folders manually from following locations:

    • C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe
    • C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe
    • C:\Program Files\Adobe

    3. Reinstall InDesign from Creative Cloud: Learn how to download your Adobe Creative Cloud apps

If that doesn't help, please reach us at Contact Customer Care for a live troubleshooting session. Click on the link and click the small chat icon on the bottom right corner.

It wouldn't even install without it.

    Hi,

Can you confirm which version of Windows you are using? Are you using other Adobe CC applications?

You probably did it, but can you confirm that you restarted the computer a couple of times?

You can check the log to find indications on where things went wrong https://www.digitalmastersmag.com/magazine/tip-of-the-day-how-to-find-crash-logs-on-windows-10/

A call to Adobe Tech support might be the answer here.

I'm using Windows 7, and I have restarted the computer a few times since the installation. As for other applications, no, I haven't installed them. Using the Event Viewer was sort of a mess, mostly because each attempt to open the app gives me a ton of new errors, and I can't determine on my own where it goes wrong.

You may be right. It may be best to talk to tech support.
