write in Arabic (right to left) on indesign

Hello everyone,
I would like to copy and paste Arabic text from Microsoft Word to Indesign. The text that is originally written from right to left automatically goes from left to right on indesign.
I have already downloaded the English version which is compatible with Arabic. I also selected the "right-to-left paragraph direction" as well as "right-to-left" in character direction. I also tried preferences > right-to-left. Unfortunately, no visible change: my text is still written from left to right and is only aligned to the right.
Do you know how I should proceed?
