Hi everyone. I frequently use minion to produce books. But with search and replace every time i choose minion Indesign decides i want to look for minion pro. Which is not the case. Can anyone tell me how i can remove minion pro as a system font? Because i think thats the problem. Maybe i am wrong....

Any help would be appreciated...

You're confusing a system font with a default InDesign font.

A system font is one used by your operating system and can't (or shouldn't) be changed. You can change your default InDesign font.

The easiest way to do this is to close all InDesign documents. Select the Type tool. You'll see that the current default font is Minion Pro. You can change it to anything else.

If you get a free Lynda.com subscription and search for the "InDesign Secrets" video series, #351 by Anne-Marie Concepcion gives you some alternate ways (good and bad) for doing this.

I also really would like to get rid of the minion pro default, but I cannot open idesign without having a project up too. Not in the version I have, the newest. It drives me crazy and is adding a lot of work for me. So please, can someone help me!

Have been looking for answers far too long now...

    Hi Ylva

    Welcome to the forum.

To change your default font, size and more, just select the font and size etc you want, without any document open, then close and reopen InDesign.

    Voila!

Thank you, but it is the "voila" part that does not happen I am afraid.
I cannot get to open Indesign without an open document.

When I close all my dokuments/projects, I get put back to the "welcome, choose your file to open"kind of page.

So do you or anyone else know how to bypass that?

Best regards and thank you so much for trying to help me out 🙂
