Part of text is sharp, part is pixelated.

I am printing to PDF and the result is as shown below:

All the text is vector, in the same single text frame, black colour with 80% opacity.

This result comes up when I print to PDF using either Adobe PDF Printer or Bluebeam Revu,

Any ideas why this is happening?

Also, when you export keep the transparency live (PDF/X-4). If for some reason you need flattened transparency (PDF/X-1a), the flattener preset you choose in the Advanced tab will have an effect. That would also be true when you print a PDF where transparency always gets flattened. It looks like you are using a low resolution preset.
