For well over a year now, in my experience, under macOS Catalina, 10.4 is the lastest useable version.  I wish Adoble would just admit ending Catalina support, because at this point seems foolish to expect any assistance on this issue.

Your crash report is not available to users on this forum.

I'm not having that trouble on a Windows machine.  I have a variety of container types including .MTS, .MOV and .MP4.   Each of those can have a variety of codecs that may or may not work with Lightroom.   With what little you've provided, I will guess that you may need to do a reinstallation, you may need to reset you Lightroom preferences or your MP4 has an unsupported codec in it.

What operating system are you using?  What is the source of your MP4?  Can you use the (free) MediaInfo program to post the "tree view" contents of your MP4 file?

I am having the same issue with MOV files from my Nikon D600.  I can't open them in the Loupe view - Lightroom Classic locks up and crashes.  It also won't include the video clips in Slideshows.  I am using a PC with Windows 10.  And I recently updated to Lightroom Classic version 11.0.  However, I have never been able to open video files in Lightroom Classic nor my original Lightroom version 6.  I would appreciate any help with this.

Same problem here, LR crashes immediately when opening any video file.  Works as expected on M1 MacBook Air/Monteray.  Bombs instantly everytime on 2012 iMac/Catalina.

Followed suggest troubleshooting actions here, no difference

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/kb/troubleshoot-video-issues.html

Created new "test" catalog with a few imports, no difference

Video from mutiple devices, no difference, instantlly bombs Lightroom.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Lightroom Classic 11.2, no difference.

So frusterating to invest both time and money, to no avail!

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. Iā€™ll need a little more information so that I can help you with this.

Please specify the type of photos you are working on? Are they JPEG or RAW? Are you creating the slideshow from a collection with any missing images? Does this happen with all images/collections, or do any specific images behave similarly?

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?

Please use images with uniform dimensions (only landscapes or portraits) in the slideshow as a test.

You can also try to clear the DynamicLink Manager (it handles video playback in Lightroom) by following these steps:

For macOS, delete the following on your system:

Go to Finder > Go (Top Menu) > Hold the Opt Key > Hidden user Library will be revealed

  • Library/Application Support/Adobe/dynamiclinkmediaserver
  • Library/Application Support/Adobe/dynamiclinkmanager (if exists)

Delete the following to clear Video Cache:
  • Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Video/Media Cache
  • Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Video/Media Cache Files

Restart your computer, and then try to create a slideshow preview again, and let us know if that works!

Thanks

Sameer K

Thanks for your attention.

These are the information requested:

  • type of photos: RAW
  • Are you creating the slideshow from a collection with any missing images?  NO
  • Does this happen with all images / collections, or do any specific images behave similarly?
    • Preview or Play function work for a certain number of photos (about 90%) and then the crash occurs
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps?
    • In Preferences Performance I tried: Increase Camera RAW cache setting to 10 GB.
    • Increase Video cache size to 5GB and I have Optimize Catalog.
    • In addition I have enabled Adobe Lightroom Classic to control the computer.
  • As a test I tried 10 landscapes format photos.
  • I deleted the dynamiclinkmediaserver library and also Media Cache and Media Cache Files.

I tried to create a slideshow preview again, but the problem is NOT solved.

In addition, I also provide this information:

  • on another computer running MacOS Monterey ver.12.4 and Lightroom Classic v11.4.1, using the same photos, the slideshow module works fine.
  • The preview also includes files in mp4 format.

I hope to solve the problem.

Thank you.
